While it does sometimes cover media intended for or attractive to children, the intended audience is teenagers and adults, more specifically the ones who grew up with such shows when they were children and are now adults, as well as adult fans of those shows, and thus uses language more suited to and tackles concepts that are more understandable to that demographic rather than a child's.
