Shri Bhairav nach, which started 250 years ago, is celebrated with great fanfare with the religious belief that Bhairav wakes up after nightfall. Sri Bhairav has been worshiped as a god of fear and punishment in Hindu and Buddhist cultures. Newari culture has an old tradition of Bhairav dance. It is believed that after dancing this dance, there will be no evil, there will be peace, fear will disappear and sorrow will be removed.
The beautiful aspect of the Bhairav dance, which is being performed every 12 years before 2029 BS and then in every 6 years after. In the dance, 12 youths dance in the form of Bhairav, Mahakali, Indrayani, Barahi, Kaumari, Vaishnavi, Bramhayani, Ganga, Ganesh, Dagini, Bhutcha, and Kawang.
