En 1992, Alain Goldman a créé la société de production Légende Films pour produire 1492 : Christophe Colomb réalisé par Ridley Scott et interprété par Gérard Depardieu. Depuis, la filmographie d'Alain Goldman n'a cessé de témoigner de sa capacité à produire des films d'envergure avec un fort potentiel à l'international, notamment Casino de Martin Scorsese, Vatel de Roland Joffé, Les Rivières Pourpres de Matthieu Kassovitz, La Môme de Olivier Dahan et, plus récemment, La French de Cédric Jimenez ou Santa & Cie d'Alain Chabat.
