About Celebrating Aviation with Mike Machat

Mike Machat’s life-long involvement in Aerospace as an artist, author, historian, and pilot allows him to now share the wonder and excitement of aviation with the YouTube audience. Join him for an inside look at everything from airplane models to X-Planes, and flying in airliners, helicopters, sport planes, and military jets.

Beginning as a tech artist in the U.S. Air Force, Mike became Staff Illustrator for the McDonnell Douglas Corporation and established himself as one of America’s leading aviation artists. A pilot since age 16, he holds an FAA Commercial Certificate and has flown in more than 240 different types of aircraft. Mike was first President of the American Society of Aviation Artists, and is the only artist to win the Gates Combs Award from the National Aviation Hall of Fame.

Augmenting his art career, Mike edited books and magazines, and has written four best-selling books on aviation.He currently serves as Curator for the Museum of Flying in Santa Monica, California.
