About Bishop Joseph E. Strickland

Bishop Joseph E. Strickland was named the fourth bishop of Tyler on the Feast of the Archangels, September 29, 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI. He was ordained Bishop, a Successor of the Apostles, on November 28, 2012. He served faithfully until his removal by Pope Francis on November 11, 2023. Prior to being named bishop, he served a number of roles in the diocese, including vicar general, judicial vicar, and pastor of the Cathedral parish. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1985. Bishop Strickland intends to continue to share the Good News of Jesus Christ through this channel and to promote the truths of the Catholic Church found in the Sacred Deposit of Faith through weekly video reflections.
