About Lustmord - Topic
”Lustmord paints magical pictures with a sound that is so vast, it gives space for your own imagination.” Karin Park
Growing up amongst the ancient mountains of North Wales, Brian has always been an outsider, skirting the edges walking his own path. Active as Lustmord since 1980, he creates a relentless primordial sound that speaks to hidden dreams with a spiritual, otherworldly resonance that feels like a door to a parallel world.
A legendary figure amongst the nascent “industrial” music scene in the UK, he was a member of SPK during their most influential early period, worked with Throbbing Gristle members Chris & Cosey and appeared on early albums by Current 93 and Nurse With Wound amongst others.
He relocated to Los Angeles in 1993 and has been based there since, in which time he has worked on over 50 motion picture soundtracks, including The Crow, and Underworld and scoring Paul Schrader’s First Reformed, as well as video game and television scores.
Famous for using field recordings made in crypts, caves, slaughterhouses, nuclear weapon test sites, deep space and places of worship. While often credited for creating the ”dark ambient” genre there is much more nuance to his own work.
“My sound is not dark, but deep. It is a light that shines into the darkness”.
Lustmord live is an all-encompassing experience with hypnotic visuals, extremely deep bass and ritualistic instrumentation that quite literally shakes both the building and your soul.
