Over his career, Joey released more than 30 albums as a leader and collaborated with giants such as Miles Davis, John McLaughlin, and Ray Charles. His work revitalized the role of the Hammond B-3 organ in jazz, bringing a fresh and soulful energy to the instrument. Joey was a five-time Grammy Award nominee and won numerous other accolades, including the DownBeat Critics Poll for Best Jazz Organist multiple times. His dynamic performances, inventive compositions, and deep understanding of jazz history made him a beloved figure in the music world.
