About Kalandra - Topic
Spearheaded by four Norwegian/Swedish musicians, Kalandra is a band with roots in melancholic Nordic folk and gritty guitars, weaving ethereal melodies into raw and eerie musical landscapes.
Formed in the beginning of 2011, they’ve spent a decade crafting their own unique sound, building their own studio, whilst also touring and playing support for similar acts such as Leprous, Gåte, Seigmen, Wardruna and Eivør.
After releasing their successful 2020 debut album "The Line" and scoring the soundtrack for the game "Kingdom Two Crowns: Norse Lands," the Norwegian alternative folk/rock band Kalandra is back with their second studio album, "A Frame of Mind."
Steadily building momentum, Kalandra toured with Leprous and A.A. Williams in 2022 and 2023, and played at renowned festivals such as Hellfest and Midgardsblot. The new record showcases the band’s growing experience and expansive songwriting. As a result, Kalandra is more versatile than ever, without losing touch with the immersive sound the quartet is known and loved for.
"The album can be described as an introspective journey about life’s experiences and how they shape the way we perceive the world. It explores what we put within the frame of our day-to-day lives, but also what is excluded. The band has combed through their memories and written about past hardships, cherished childhood memories, and a wariness about the future and the state of the world."
