About English String Band

The English String Band brings together some of the best traditional English string players to produce an exciting sound to dance or listen to. The band members' pedigrees are steeped in traditional music from all over England and are, or have been, members of some of the most influential English dance bands of the last 30 years, including: Old Swan Band, New Victory Band, Old Hat Band, Katie's Quartet, Our Northern Branch, Grand Union & English Country Dance Band.

Using a combination of fiddles, cellos and double bass the English String Band create a full and exciting sound playing traditional English tunes from around the country, with both unison fiddle playing and harmonies to add further interest and enjoyment.

All the musicians in the English String Band have been playing together in other bands and in music sessions for many years and with this have, within their own unique exciting styles, developed a strong empathy and mutual responsiveness which give
