About Ahmet Akarsu

Ahmet Akarsu is a computer engineer and a self-educated musician from North Cyprus. He mostly plays Cyprus folk music, however he is also interested in almost all types of music including flamenco, jazz, rock, classical (Turkish & western). Ahmet plays several instruments including the violin, darbuka, kaval, ud and accordion. He performs with a number of folk bands in North Cyprus and he has been to many music and folk dance workshops and festivals around the World. His live performance with YEKSAD Folk Dance Group at Drummondville Festival in Canada in July 2005 was recorded by ARC Music from UK and the CD was published in UK in February 2006. Ahmet also has his own folk music recordings where he played all the instruments. World_Folklore E-mail Group that Ahmet founded in 2002 had become a strong bridge among folklore community for several years. Ahmet now works as a teacher of ICT, but he teaches other subjects, too, both in Cyprus and online. He loves learning foreign languages...
