Captain David Dalton, BS, EMTP, is a Training Officer and Defensive Tactics Instructor who has written for multiple EMS textbooks and research publications; developed skills training videos, and presented at state, regional, and national venues.

After examining hundreds of research articles, conducting a global survey of EMS professionals, testing more than 100 restraint devices, and reviewing more than 200 cases of assaults on EMS providers, he came to the inescapable conclusion that EMS restraint education is severely inadequate and places both patient and provider in harm’s way. David seeks to equip administrators, educators, and providers with evidence-based tools and techniques for making patient restraint safer, more effective, and legally defensible.
