If approved, the minimum wage in Tacoma would increase from $9.47 to $15 an hour OVERNIGHT! That's an immediate 58% increase on January 1, 2016. Tacoma would have the HIGHTEST citywide minimum wage in Washington State and the entire country. Employers unable to comply with the abrupt change would risk JAIL TIME and a criminal record with no exceptions based on the number of employees.
