About Vā - Topic

Vā is made up of Lia Daunakamakama (vocals), Jasmine Daunakamakama (vocals, guitar), Vika Tuisawau (vocals, piano), Sevu Tuisawau (drums), and William Sanday (guitar, bass). The band first met in Vanuatu in 2014, and would often have jam sessions together and play in church, under the support and encouragement of their parents. Since then, their unique sound has garnered the attention of well-known artists such as Bigwilz, Phil Dakei, VT1S, and more. Inspired by classics from the likes of the Bee Gees, Daft Punk, Meghan Trainor, Bruno Mars, Michael Jackson, the Commodores and Aretha Franklin, Vā brings a familiar soulful, jazzy sound with a modern, youthful twist.

In 2022, Vā won the Domo Vou Talei competition for their song “Mango Tree.” The group were also nominated at the 2022 FIPRA Music Awards, for Best English Song and Best New Artist. In September 2023, Vā released their second single, “Take Me Away,” a summer tune best enjoyed with friends.

2024 saw the band's first official collaboration "Silver Lining" with Francisco Bhagwan, joining him and friends from 4 Quarters the following year in their joint concert "Sema Mai," of which would give rise to the formation of the artistic collective and supergroup known as Spectrum. Following "Sema Mai," the group set out on their combined tour, known as "Spectrum: The Vesumona Tour" comprising of shows in their hometown of Suva, and culminating in their leg at Adelaide Fringe 2026.

The chart appends new subscriber readings every few seconds. That gives you a rolling growth trace instead of a static count snapshot.
