有大馬萬梓良之稱的劉偉強，未入行前在政府中學執教，在好奇心之下,他於1991年透過港劇《大家族》招考臨時演員而踏入演藝圈，之后開始兼職拍戲， 拍了一些真人真事《kisah Benar》及wayang Tinggi 的《街市有情》、《藝海驚情》等連續劇。劉偉強也拍過Double Vision的獲獎馬來電視劇《Kuala selangor XI (SEBELAS) 》。 1996，年劉偉強與TV3子公司Layar oper簽約當演員，拍了不少中文連續劇，包括: 《天煞》、《錯體情緣》及《天地情仇》等，與多位港星如:南紅、郭峰、鄭浩南、張立基等演過對手戲。與此同時，刘偉強拍過的平面及電視廣告接近100個，還多了個外號叫廣告王子。 劉偉強近年較少拍劇，反而唱歌及參與歌舞劇表演居多，並應邀當選美評審，及做策劃節目的工作,也担任唱片制作。华声唱片歌星刘汉文的“离不开你”及“情牵南洋”专辑便是其中刘伟强所制作的专辑。除了藝人身份外，劉偉強亦是個英文培訓導師，桃李滿天下。

Desmond Liew was a teacher before venturing into acting and show business. He first played a cameo role in the Hong Kong series Big Family in 1991 and since then had acted in numerous TV series which include Kisah Benar, Kuala Selangor XI and local Chinese drama serials- acting alongside Hong Kong actors like Kuok Feng, Norman Cheong, Mark Cheng and veteran actress Nam Hoong. Besides that, Desmond had also appeared in more than 100 advertisements which garnered him the Prince of Advertisements title
