Established in the year 1990, by Natyamayuri Vidhusi Smt. Lakshmi Gururaj, Nrityanikethana (R) has earned both name and fame in the field of Bharathanatyam. Though born in a rural place like Kodavoor near Udupi, Nrithyanikethana has branched out all over Udupi district and is imparting training in traditional Bharathanatyam.

Natyamayuri Vidhushi Lakshmi Gururaj has adopted Bharathanatyam as a part of her life since her childhood. With the support of her parents Smt. and Shri Krishnamurthy Rao, she was trained under the able guidance of Vidwan Sri Mohan Rao, Udupi and took no time to perfect herself in the traditional Bharathanatyam. She learnt Muguru style with Vidwan Sri K.B. Madhava Rao.Vidhushi duo Smt. Sandhya Keshava rao and Smt. Narmada of Bangalore have fine tuned the immense potential of Lakshmi. She is a A grade artist of Doordarshan.
