In society we have a social hierarchy. Think of it as a pyramid with the Alphas at the top. The Alphas are the leaders in the social structure. Beta males serve underneath the Alphas. Betas are the insecure and submissive men in today's society.

Then we have the Sigma males who sit outside of the pyramid. because they do not participate in the social hierarchy. That's why they are lone wolves and prefer to do things their own way. They move to the beat of their own drum. Yet Sigmas are equal to Alphas in social rank and attractiveness to women.
