Prof. Harvinder Singh was initiated into music by his father, Freedom fighter Bhai Santa Singh, a noted Gurbani Kirtankar and an Ex-servicemen. Being a disciple of the ‘Khalifa’ of Agra Gharana Ustad Yunus Hussain Khan & Pandit Yashpaul, Prof. Singh imbibed the unique traits of ‘Agra gayakee’ & inherited a vast repertoire of Uncommon Ragas and Rare compositions. From time to time, he was fortunate to have learnt the nuances of ‘Khayal Gayakee’ from Pt. Laxman Krishanrao Pandit and Pt. Atam Prakash Sharma of Gwalior Gharana, Ustad Tarlochan Singh (a disciple of Ustad Abdul Waheed Khan) of Kairana Gharana & Vichitra Veena player Pt. Gopal Krishan (a disciple of ‘Bharat Ratna’ Pt. Ravi Shanker) of Maihar Gharana.
