I hold a PhD in International Conflict Analysis and was formerly a senior research fellow and visiting professor at the London School of Economics and a research associate at Oxford University. I have published over 15 books, including "Secession and State Creation: What Everyone Needs to Know" (Oxford University Press), and have served as an advisor or consultant to a number of governments and international organisations, including the UN.
