Sergei Rachmaninoff

One of the most iconic composers of the 20th century, whose music is among the most performed in concert halls around the world today. A formidable pianist and composer, Rachmaninoff (b. April 1, 1873) created works that featured memorable soaring melodies, rich orchestra, and Romantic chromatic harmonies. His famous catalog include his piano concertos, symphonies, the orchestral poem "The Isle of the Dead," "The Bells," "Vespers," "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini," and "Symphonic Dances." Musicians around the world celebrate his 150th anniversary in 2023.
