Conspiracy of Silence (movie)

Inspired by true events, Conspiracy of Silence, written and directed by John Deery, tells the story of a young trainee priest torn between the love for his girlfriend and his vocation to the Catholic Church. Set in contemporary Ireland.

Winner of the U.S. National Board of Review of Motion Pictures Freedom of Expression Award in 2004. The award was shared with Michael Moore for Fahrenheit 9/11 and Mel Gibson for The Passion of the Christ. Deery was also nominated for Best Film Director for Conspiracy of Silence at the Irish Film Awards in 2003. The screenplay was developed at the Sundance Screenwriters' Lab after it won the Hartley-Merrill International Screenwriting Award presented at the Cannes Film Festival in 2001.
