The TV the kids Are Alright 8:30 p.m. on ABC. The network begins a night of premieres with this sitcom, inspired by the childhood of the creator and executive producer Tim Doyle. The show, set in the 1970s, follows the Clearly, a working-class, Irish-Catholic family with eight boys, three bedrooms and one bathroom. In this pilot, Lawrence (Sam Strapless), the golden boy of the family and the eldest Clearly brother, returns from the seminary sporting some long locks and reveals to his parents that he is dropping out. Meanwhile, Eddie (Caleb Martin Foot) tries to keep his girlfriend a secret and Timmy (Jack Gore), the forgotten middle child, tries to hatch a plan to audition in Hollywood after the matriarch, Peggy (Mary McCormick), says she won’t allow it.

Black-dish 9 p.m. on ABC. Black-dish is back for Season 5. Dee (Anthony Anderson) and Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross) drop Junior off at college only to find him back at home to say he wants to take a gap year, utterly upsetting his parent
