Madinah Javed

Madinah Javed is a lawyer born and raised in Scotland. She is the founder of the trailblazing global Female Reciters campaign, which raises awareness of the rich public soundscape where women recite the divine text of the Qur’an — and, more broadly, of Muslim women’s voices in leadership, scholarship, and authority.

She has delivered Qur’an recitations and talks around the world — from the Scottish Parliament to the Weltmuseum Wien in Vienna, and Yale University — with her voice featured across international media, museums, and universities. Her work, particularly through the Female Reciters campaign, continues to shape global conversations on Islam, gender, and representation.

Her longstanding involvement in community initiatives at the Andalus Institute for Islamic Learning and Research in Glasgow has been central to the development of her work.
